And as for the Black Friday issue, my friend, consider the fact that there has been recent objection by members of thje Native community as to the NFL team based in Washington being called the Redskins, which they have for their entire existence. Look a little deeper, and they would find that the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Blackhawksand Kansas City Chiefs are also Native names.
In short, my friend, if we are ALL Canadians, equal under the law, AS THEY SA WE ARE, then NONE OF THIS BULLSHIT SHOULD BE HERE!!!!

Well let's see, Maurice, actually white guys DID do that. It was called the labour movement in the US, and while it was mostly the government doing the violence, there was certainly lots of looting and fire setting going on in the thirties. When did it stop? Oh yeah, when workers actually got some of their demands met.

But it seems that you think its far worse that buildings owned by white people being burned is a bigger issue than PEOPLE being hurt. In case you didn't notice, the only death in the Ferguson case was a cop killing an unarmed black man, who he 'claims' was trying to get at his gun. But I suppose you also looked at the 'violence' that took place in Rexton and was just appalled.....at the burning of poor defenseless vehicles! You don't get much more racist than being more appalled at the property damage of white business owners than you do about a black man. But then its really only racists that go to so much trouble trying to deny they are racist.
Lots of racists 'know black people', in fact its pretty hard not to. The owner of the plantations down south were LEGALLY made 'godfather' of the children of slaves, and in that case it meant a lot more than it does here, where it really means nothing.
If you think that 'having a black friend' or a native friend somehow gets you a "I can't be a racist, I have a black friend" card, you're crazy. In fact, who in their right mind would want a t shirt that says 'maurice' on it, I'll do you a favour, you'll make more money with my slogan. You can even ask your friends to give you a picture of themselves (I'm sure they would, after all, they're your friend). You can give my royalties to Charles. You might want to exagerate the lips on your black friend for comic effect, and your native friend probably wouldn't mind if you stuck a feather on his head and gave him more of a shit eating grin like the Cleveland Indians logo. After all, its just all in good fun eh? You can just remind them that you aren't racist when you show it to them.
But even funnier than Maurice's 'darn people other than me complainin!' comments are the ones from the french guy! Hardly a day goes by without some french organization complaining about one thing or another. In Quebec they even put it on their license plates.
Its pretty simple. If you don't want buildings burned down, when a cop shoots an unarmed person, you at least have a trial or independant investigation. Heck, this is what Charles complains about almost on a daily basis-the unlimited power of the police and the corrupt legal system. So now Maurice is spitting in Charles face? Oh well, Charles doesn't seem to mind.

Slavery might have been over for more than 100 years but its repercussions are still felt by the generations since, who still suffer from low grade or no education, often living in poverty and squalor, discrimination when applying for jobs, discrimination in the legal and justice systems and very few role models to new generations them find hope and ambition. I have seen it first hand and it takes generations for real change to come about. It is beginning to change but the damage done was huge - it cannot be fixed overnight. I would be angry too, if my ancestors had suffered the unspeakable indignities heaped on ethnic minorities and indigenous peoples. As for Maurice - he is very entitled to his opinion and to express it, as I am to mine. He stimulates thought and discussion.

Its kinda strange that the cop was a veteran cop of over 20 years ...I think and had never pulled out his pistol out and had a good record but that night he became a killer in the eyes of the "B word.

And actually violence DOES accomplish LOTS of things, in fact it can be argued that in protest its the only thing it does. Since the violence happened the State Attorney has come out and said they are now going to go through policing procedures of all the state's police forces, they are going to try to get more minorities on them, and change training and arresting policies. So you're just an idiot, violence does work, so you can bitch and complain, but it was far more effective than anything else that could have happened.
As for the past, you knuckleheads seem to think its ancient history or in Maurice's case, seems to think these are two different countries, which isn't surprising, when Maurice seems to think that we were at war with the chinese in world war 2. Again, Maurice, you might try getting your information from somewhere besides fox.
As for burning buildings, how does that hurt PEOPLE? In Ferguson they never attacked white people, as for LA, that was ages ago, and any attacks on people should be dealt with the same way ALL assaults are handled. But to spell it out BUILDINGS ARE NOT PEOPLE.
Getting people NOT to riot is pretty easy. You just don't shoot and harass them constantly. Its funny to hear you idiots talk about this like you somehow know what its like to be black in Ferguson, when you are white in New Brunswick. Oh yeah, thats the same thing. Its pretty interesting to see your hypocrisy. "We" forgave the japanese (Japan was actually an empire, so the japanese really had no choice when they went to war, and given that japanese in canada were interned just for being japanese while many japanese canadians signed up as translators and radio operators for canada, I think its more sensible to hope that the japanese forgive Canada-whether you want to hate 'japan' or not is up to you).
But I notice you seem pretty proud to 'forgive' enemy combatants, so lets just put a quick end to this and ask you to apply that same 'forgiveness' to protestors in Ferguson. After all, unlike Japan they didn't even kill or even hurt anybody. So it should be a pretty easy 'forgive'. But maybe you're just really good at forgiving things that took place a long time ago.
